Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am so excited to move from second grade to Kindergarten in the fall! For some of my students, this will be their introduction to school and I want to provide them with a solid foundation of social-emotional and academic success. We will work together to build a safe, caring classroom community.
More than 50% of the students at our school are English Learners and over 65% are socioeconomically disadvantaged.
I want my students to be happy to come to school every day and I want to provide them with as many opportunities for hands on learning and enrichment as I can.
My Project
Art is one way for students to express themselves. The resources that I've requested will provide a backbone of structure to the art I plan to do with my Kindergarten students. Little hands need to have the opportunity to use paint and get messy!
A drying rack will provide a spot for art projects to dry before going up on the walls and in the windows!
The cafeteria trays will be used instead of place-mats, giving students a way to carry messy art to the drying rack or into the classroom from outside. The trays can also be used to hold watercolor trays or selections of other materials.
The selection of paint brushes will give students opportunities to use different size grips and brush tips. Some will be used for focusing on fine motor skills. Finally, large construction paper can be housed in the paper storage and will be easily accessible for all of our art!
