I teach over 300 students each week and our art supplies get used up quickly! I would love to give students the opportunity to work with new, colorful art supplies to enhance our usual rotation of crayons and markers. Our school serves mostly low income students in a disadvantaged neighborhood.
The elementary and middle school student I teach are so creative!
They make the most incredible creations out of whatever "junk" I have lying around. They are eager to create and many students say art is their favorite class! I would love to give them more supplies to create art with - I am curious to see what new artworks they would create with these new supplies!
My Project
In addition to our art lessons, I keep a "creation station" in the art room where I keep a variety of items that students can ask to visit to look for new art supplies.
I usually collect items I can find for free such as paper towel rolls, boxes and marker tops. I'd love to add some colorful clay, googly eyes, feathers and other different items with distinct colors and textures. They will have the opportunity to enhance their ideas and creations with new materials they have never used before!
Having additional art supplies in my classroom with help to expand the types of art projects I can do with my students as well as excite them with the arrival of new materials!
Our students cherish the artworks they make and adding color, texture and movement would excite them to no end!
