I teach K-8 art in a Title I school in North Carolina. My students live in a rural part of the county where there are limited options for them to experience the cultural arts and experiment creatively outside of school. On a typical day, I teach art to 6 different grade levels between kindergarten and 8th grade. I have middle school students every day for 45 minutes. I teach my elementary (K-5) classes once a week for an hour.
My students are all so creative and love experimenting with all types of mediums.
They love when they have time to create something of their own that reflects their own skills, ideas, and emotions.
My Project
My students need new materials to keep them motivated and excited about art. My students love art, but they need more advanced materials to work with. I have students who are very talented and need a challenge. They are advanced artists who need to take their art to the next level.
I am asking for advanced materials for my most talented students.
We need Prismacolor colored pencils that will allow them to blend to create more realistic artwork. They need artist-quality drawing pencils to help them achieve a greater range of shades and tones in their drawings. My students need sharpies for ink and watercolor drawings. I also want these students to experience acrylic painting on canvas. My students are awesome. They deserve supplies that match their artistic abilities. Great artwork takes time and quality supplies. They are tired of low-level colored pencils and markers and their limits. I can't wait to see the amazing work my students do with these materials.
