The school I teach in has a high percentage of students who receive free and reduced lunch. Our community is currently doing everything they can to make sure that all of the students get enough to eat during these troubled times.
We are embarking on elementary-aged students being taught through distance learning.
This is a very confusing time for children. They don't understand why they can't go to school to see their friends and their teachers.
We are providing packets of work for them, but I am concerned about their social emotional learning. They are not use to being seperated from one another.
I would like to be able to provide them with art supplies to engage their creative minds.
My Project
In this time of uncertainty, I worry about my students' social emotional health.
Please help me get art supplies into the hands of 2nd graders during this period of distance learning.
During the span of time where students do not have opportunities to creatively express themselves through music, art, or STEM involvement at school, they need to have some supplies in hand to express themselves. Whether it's a drawing or a sculpture, young students who do not have the words to express their emotions during their time of isolation will still have a medium to create and demonstrate their feelings to their immediate family.
Each student would receive wax craft sticks, a drawing pad, and modeling clay.
