I teach an amazing group of kindergarten students in CA. My students come from a variety of backgrounds and always come with a wide range of abilities and personalities. As a teacher, it is my responsibility to assure all students are engaged and learning while creating a fun, safe, and comfortable atmosphere for learning. I have a commitment to my students to provide them with a classroom, where they will learn best. Its our responsibility to get them ready for first grade. We do this in a number of different ways. We teach them social skills, how to participate in active listening, and academics.

Incorporating more art and stem into my learning environment would allow my students to flourish while engaged. As we just adopted new science standards, which is heavily based in engineering, more stem and art supplies would provide my students with new center rotations, which will incorporate our new science standards as well as art and stem.
My Project
We need more art and stem. These days, many schools do not incorporate or have enough art and stem activities, because most of these supplies must be bought out of our own pockets and are not provided. This project would provide my 5 and 6 year old students with more engaging centers including stem, play dough, and art as a choice for their center rotations.
School has become very rigorous for these little ones, and they need more engaging and fun activities at this age.
This project would provide fun and engaging centers, like stamping play dough to make words, building ramps and balls, making a magnetic structure, and free paint on an easel. With the day to day high standards that we have in kindergarten, these centers would provide a fun, yet intellectually engaging activities for my students.
