We are the most diverse elementary school in the entire district with more than 23 different languages spoken. In fact, we are the 18th most diverse school in all of Oregon. We have students from Somalia, Nepal, Cuba, Thailand, China, Ukraine, Romania, and many more countries!
My classroom is filled with learners who are eager to come to school each day.
Many students come to school with special needs and I am trying to create a more comfortable and safe environment with resources that will aid students specific needs and the needs of the class as a whole.
My Project
After the wild success of my literacy project, I received further donation in the form of a gift card from my very generous Cousin Nanci and specified it be used for art supplies. DonorsChoose.org will not allow me to just spend the card without starting a new project so here is "Art Smart." Do kids need art supplies? That's for you to decide.
By donating to this project you will give paint and paintbrushes, beautiful new Crayola Markers, and oil pastels to a classroom that needs them.
Our current supplies look to be ten years old and the look on the kids' faces when we start an art project could be described as confusion followed by disappointment. I try to pep them up and say, "Hey, these are still good! They just need more effort." But even I wasn't buying that last year.
Thank you to my previous donors and to my cousin for inspiring this new art supply project. Asking friends and family for money isn't my favorite thing in the world, but with so many generous folks out there willing to fund my last project so quickly, why not give it a go. The best part about donating is that you can be sure your donation goes directly to the kids who need it.
