When I was a kid I remember having schools with rooms to spare. That is not the case for us...we are FULL! I am removing the desk from my classroom to make more room for storing my student's beautiful projects and art materials.
My students are incredible.
They are a very diverse bunch with the creativity and drive to change the world. They are invested in our art program and I want to give them every opportunity to have what they need to learn and grow as young artists. My students attend a school tucked into a lovely neighborhood in the middle of an urban area. They come from every corner of the globe...literally. We are a lucky bunch. We have an amazingly dedicated and compassionate community surrounding our school.
My Project
It feels silly to try to talk passionately about shelving and rolling carts, but we really need them. I am happy to give up my desk, it will free me from the piles! I want my room to be comfortable and user friendly and for that to happen we need more storage. My room is filled with odds and ends I have collected over the years and the idea of new furniture is thrilling. Our storage cabinets are 50+ years old and pretty shabby. It will be wonderful to have storage that does not give slivers...but don't worry...I carry a tweezers!
