My students need drawing paper, drawing pencils, and cardstock. I would like to do a technical drawing value chart and realism monochromatic project with middle school students with these materials.
My K-8 charter school, in Las Vegas, Nevada, has a rigorous academic program and is full of enthusiastic teachers that want to help their students succeed. The diverse student population comes from various cultures and different backgrounds. This project will help to fund various art materials that the students need in the art classroom.
I teach a vast amount of artmaking techniques and scaffold learning so that students are constantly using what they learned in the past; students not only apply, but master these techniques through practice and repetition in different lessons.
I am running out of cardstock for students to use for paint projects. I also would like to get pencils with varying lead density and drawing paper so that students can work on their shading and getting more value into their work.
My Project
I do not have any drawing paper or drawing pencils for my students. I want to teach them about the density of the leads in different drawing pencils, and how you can use more dense pencils for outlines and softer pencils for darker values. Students need to learn about pencil control and how to draw lightly because it's important to be able to erase lines fully that aren't needed or are a mistake.
I would like to have drawing paper and drawing pencils so that I can teach middle schoolers about value and how to create more visually compelling artwork through using the darkest darks, lightest lights, and all of the medium shades and tints in between.
I want kids to be able to draw realistically from observation, and the pencils will most definitely help them do so.
