This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Over 200 students come through the art room doors every day. I would love for my students to have something that they are proud of when they leave. As of right now, my room is lacking in the supplies that would help them achieve that.
My students are inner city K-8 graders.
They are amazing kids with a lot of talent. We have won awards for our projects in the past and I hope to keep that going. For many of the kids, art is a motivator for them to come to school. This year we have less supplies than we have had since my first year at the school years ago, and I was on a cart back then. As a whole, my school is lacking in funding, and therefore many areas are suffering, especially art.
My Project
The supplies that I am asking for are basic art materials including crayons, pencils, markers, glue and paper. They will be able to complete multiple art projects using supplies that work. They will be able to be proud of the vibrancy in their artwork and have real art paper to make it on.
As of now my classroom has no crayons, so just adding that portion of the supplies I am asking for would be a huge addition to the classroom and their projects.
These students will be able to feel confident in developing their art projects from the beginning, and end up with successful projects. These basic supplies that I am hoping to get would make a world of difference in my art room.
