This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come from a variety of backgrounds on the island of Maui. We are a public Charter School located in Kihei. We have about 720 students k-12. It is an innovative school that is focused on STEM education. I am an art teacher that would like to put the A in the STEM to make it STEAM education. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math education) As a school we strive for project based education, where students can incorporate 21st century skills. I am looking for art supplies for these amazing, talented creative students. There are many students at our school that excel in the arts. Art materials will help further develop their artistic skills.

My Project

I teach art. All of my printmaking and painting projects usually are difficult, because there is no room to dry artwork. I have students artwork drying all over in any place I can the top of file cabinets, book shelves, etc. I try to gather paintings and prints up before the next class come in. In our classroom we have the windows and doors open when the wind comes through it blows the artwork around and if it is not dry it can ruin their work.

By having this rack students will be able to keep their art work safe and it will make a huge difference in our art classroom.
