Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are unique because they are all identified as ML (multilingual) students, which means they are learning English since their first language is not English. Some languages in my school are Spanish, Patois, and Haitian Creole. All of my students come from a low-income intercity area.
My Project
The materials and supplies that I am requesting for my students already have a "home." In other words, I know exactly what everything will be used for. We just need your help in getting everything through our door! The canvas, paint brushes, and paint will allow the students to replicate the work of famous multicultural artists like graffiti artist, Jean Michel Basquiat, and painter, Ernie Barnes. The paper and glue will let us see the world like collage artist, Romare Bearden and Henri Matisse. We will make sculptures using air-dry clay like sculptress, Tyree Guyton and Yayoi Kusama. We have included a few snacks to help keep us fueled while working.
The donations to this project will help to improve my students' understanding of and competency of authentic, and multicultural art.
We will use these materials to aide us in the process of becoming real life artist. As the teacher, I have done extensive research on these artists will impact my students learning. Yet I truly need your support to make this a reality. Thanks!
