Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Students in my fine arts classroom consist of pre-K through fifth graders. They have the energy and enthusiasm to explore and create, but we are lacking the supplies to make their ideas come alive.
The community my students come from is primarily low income, and all of them receive free breakfast and lunch.
These students do not have the much-needed supplies or resources they need to succeed, especially in the fine arts. They have virtually no experience or exposure to any fine arts, whether it be visual, theater, or even music.
My Project
I am currently teaching face-to-face students at the same time as those on Zoom at home. The laptop stand would help my students see things at eye level through my laptop's camera, instead of at the current level on my cart. Their perspective will drastically change from the new angle and will even help them see the board clearly. The other supplies like chalk markers and scissors will help us create special artwork for and rolling cart will allow for the student supplies to be rolled around easily. The stickers and pencils will be used for student incentives to increase participation and focus. This is a difficult and strange time for everyone, so these resources will be a great addition to our learning.
