My students are enthusiastic learners who always want more! They come from all kinds of backgrounds. Some have a lot of support at home, and some don't. The thing I love most about my students is that they support each other. We live by a very serious social contract in my class and my students respect one another and cheer for each other daily. The students in my class also love to work together in teams and learn from each other.
I personally provide a lot of extras for my class, but I want my students to have EVERYTHING that will help them on the road to discovery.
My students love to play learning games, work on group projects, participate in plays, sing songs, learn with art, and help each other succeed. They deserve everything and anything that will promote their education because they are enthusiastic about life!
Art is all around us, and I try to incorporate it in every subject. So many math lessons can be enhanced with art projects. I teach geometry with examples from Piet Mondrian. We learn about shapes from Picasso. Kandinsky teaches us about concentric circles. Many artists use symmetry in their work, so it is fun to do art projects that involve symmetry.
When we use the great works of art in our lessons, students really find inspiration and motivation.
They always ask me if we are going to do something "artsy" with our lessons! Incorporating art lessons can get expensive, but my students deserve the best supplies that provide successful outcomes.
