My classroom is a very busy place! We try to make learning as fun as possible by providing the children with a variety of learning experiences.
I currently have sixteen students (ages 3-5) in my inclusive preschool classroom.
Four of these students have an identified disability and are served through Early Childhood Special Education. The other twelve students are at-risk for developmental delay and are served through the Virginia Preschool Initiative. The inclusive classroom setting allows children with specials needs to learn through peer modeling. In turn, the peer models learn empathy and compassion towards others through the children with special needs. All sixteen students bring many different abilities and experiences to the classroom. One thing all the children have in common is that they are very active and love playing together at centers!
My Project
My students love playing at the writing center! They especially love making pictures/cards to bring home to their parents. We need more construction paper and glue so my students can continue making presents for their families. My children also love practicing their name and letters/numbers on our whiteboards, but we're out of dry erase markers! All the materials I've requested will allow my students to continue developing fine motor and writing skills, while also expressing their creativity.
These materials will engage my students at the writing center and enable them to develop fine motor skills and an appreciation for art in a fun way.
These art supplies will also be used for making crafts. Students will continue to develop fine motor skills and will also work on their listening skills while making crafts. These skills will better prepare my students for success in kindergarten.
