This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
The kids in my school come from all around the world. We have students from China, Yemen, Mexico, and other awesome places. Our school has some of the greatest potlucks in the world! As diverse as our students are, they all have something in common--they all love learning and having adventures. Books are a great way for kids to have adventures and explore the world. These books will be used for many years by many students. Help the kids in my class have access to a large variety of books.
My Project
Making art is a very important part of kindergarten. It helps students build thinking skills and fine motor skills.
Making art is fun!
Every year, each student in my class makes a quilt to document all the different things we learn during the year. For example, we study the trout, so one square of our quilt is a fish print of trout. We use the sharpies to draw different things for our quilt. We use the tape to hold the quilt squares down on the table, so kids can draw on the quilt squares.
The other materials will help us make art in other ways. We use the crayons to draw with and illustrate our writing. The copy paper and art paper will be used for drawing and painting.
We will use the dry erase markers to practice drawing and printing--The dry erase cleaner will help us clean our boards. The special kind of pencils are easy to hold and use. We will write and draw with the pencils. We will will draw outside with the jumbo chalk. The red paper will be used to make valentines, skulls, and other art work.
The flip chart paper will be used to demonstrate writing and drawing.
