This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are brilliant, curious, energetic learners who love exploring the physical world. For our next science unit, we are exploring animals. Group software students will choose an animal that they want to focus on, and learn everything they can about the animal - especially its habitat, diet, and anatomy. Modeling clay and markers would allow my students to build 3D models of the animals they choose to study, as well as building environments for their animals.

Building their animals out of modeling clay will help my students focus their attention on the important characteristics of the animals and get practice translating between 2D and 3D images.

Once they have made their models, they'll develop their writing skills, making labels and explanatory posters to display next to their animal in our classroom "museum." The materials will allow my students to develop their scientific knowledge, artistic abilities and writing skills all at once!
