Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Kindergarten should be a joy! These awesome art supplies will make math, science and social studies projects a blast!
I teach Kindergarten to an incredible group of low-income students in California.
Though over 90% of the students at our school receive free lunch, they are showing amazing growth and working very hard to learn each day. Last year, our school was excited to hear that we had the largest academic gains in the entire school district.
Though we've had a lot of success, we still have a very long way to go to give these students the excellent education that they deserve!
My Project
Kindergrtners learn best through hands-on experiences. My students need plenty of opportunities to build their fine motor skills as well as their understanding of the world around them. Unfortunately, all our budget allows for is white paper and crayons.
Art is a wonderful motivator and my students would jump at the chance to work with new materials. They will practice patterning with the beads, learn about 3D shapes with the play-doh, spice up their drawings with googly eyes, recreate changing leaves in science class, and build artifacts to supplement our social studies. All the while they will be improving their spacial awareness and their fine motor skills. With your help my students will enter first grade confidently and ready to succeed.
My students face enough challenges, boredom shouldn't be one of them.
New art supplies will inspire my students to work their hardest and find joy in their studies. Help bring new light and excitement into our classroom! My students will be so thankful for your generosity!
