Ms. Green from Oakland CA is requesting supplies through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.

Art is Fundamental - Art Gives Meaning to All School Subjects

My students need arts and crafts supplies including construction paper, paints. scissors, pastels and more for an exciting year in art class, and a document camera with projector to enable learning.

My Students

"Now I get It!" whisper the students as they learn an art technique,or the story of a famous artist. Middle Schoolers want to learn, and with 32 students enrolled in 5 classes, we need supplies and access to technology to enable learning techniques, stories and visuals.

My students are attending a big school with little resources.

There is NO money for art supplies, yet I have 160 students enrolled. ALL my students are designated "English Learners"-- even if their first language is English, all my students qualify for "free breakfast and lunch" and many come to school without a pencil. And my students are joyful and curious innocent to the inequities facing their lives. I want to empower them with the skills and discipline of a fine arts education, as well as the knowledge of possible futures in the arts, and the stories of the artists who have come before us all.

My Project

From simple supplies like glue and paint, to crafts supplies like yarn, to the tech tools of a document camera and an LCD projector so they can SEE what I am demonstrating, and they can SEE the work of famous artists. I'm interested in changing lives through the arts.

This donation would have a huge impact-- the technological tools would be used for years-- serving the developing minds of thousands of students over time, and the consumable supplies would enable a fantastic year of fantastic projects based on the principles of art, the history of art and the magic of expression which art allows.
