Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My class packs a lot of energy, learning, growing, and kindness inside. I focus on creating a growth mindset so my students can try new things without the fear of failing. We work hard in our class and make sure to create time for learning through play and movement.
Teaching at a low income school has its challenges, but the growth I see in my students makes all the work worth it.
My students are grateful for the new additions we are able to add to the classroom. They love books and working during out rotations on the Chromebooks. We use the Chromebooks every day for additional math practice.
I work with my students in small groups twice a day. It is the best time of our day because I get to work closely with every single student. I love hearing the confidence in their voice when I have them explain a math problem to me. These are the moments I am striving for with each student this year.
My Project
My school has a focus on individual learning styles. I would like to provide my students with the tools they need to show what they know. I don't have a lot of art supplies and that has prevented me from doing activities I know my students would love.
Kids can show what they know by using art.
It is engaging, fun, and memorable to students. I would love to incorporate these resources into my classroom for my students to use and hundreds of ways and with all the subjects!
I teach in a diverse neighborhood. I am so excited for the "people color" crayons. Students need to be able to find a skin tone that matches them, they shouldn't have to choose between limited colors. This will also be a great resource to begin a lesson about differences! The possibilities are endless with these supplies!
I would love to be able to give my students a variety of tools to show case what they know. Having paints, brushes, papers, water colors, crayons, etc will help provide my students with options. There are also items on this list such as page pockets to help display their work in different ways!
Thank you so much for showing interest in this project for my class!
