Art In The City
The cost of scissors, paint, and crayons from Nasco and Quill Corporation is $225, including shipping and <a target="new" href="http://www.donorschoose.org/html/fulfillment.htm" onclick="g_openWindow('http://www.donorschoose.org/html/fulfillment.htm', 300, 800, 'fulfillwindow');return false;">fulfillment</a>.
Because of the required state tests that our children have to take nowadays, especially in fifth grade, many children are not able to experience art in our classes. Fortunately, our school, a low-income school in Los Angeles, was able to become a part of a program where teachers and students alike take classes from a visiting art teacher, once a week for a semester. Included in this program are initial art materials and extra standards-aligned art lessons.
As this program ends this year, so do the art supplies necessary for the lessons. I would like to request a replenishment of a few of these supplies so that our students can continue with the art lessons. It is a great way for our children to not only learn art standards, but, they get to use their creativity in other ways. This is also a great experience for all our students who are artistically inclined, but, who do not have the opportunity to express themselves otherwise because of the demands of state tests.
Thank you very much for your generosity!
