My school is committed to providing a high-quality education within a safe environment while meeting the needs
of all students.
We are located in rural Arkansas. Seventy- five percent of our students are receiving reduced-price or free lunches. A majority of our students have limited access to new technology.
My Art classes have highly motivated artists that love experiencing new art processes. Art class is a space where they can express themselves. Besides allowing my students to create independent self-expressive art, I try to expose them to art processes that relate to real-world art jobs. Art doesn't have to stop after high school. My students are eager to see where their art can take them.
My Project
My students love learning new processes. In the age of technology, my students are desperate to create digitally, and in new technological ways. An area they have been missing out on is the world of designing and creating artwork by 3D printing.
While my students love traditional processes, I would love to give my students the opportunity to use 3D printers in art classes, where 3D designing and printing can unlock new learning opportunities.
With this 3D printer, students will be able to design a statue or famous artwork remake and bring it to life with this Flash forge 3D printer. They will also be able to use 3D printing as a new medium adding 3D elements to their 2D artwork for mixed media masterpieces! Lessons will require creativity and collaboration.
This printer will be used in grades 4-12. It will be a powerful learning tool that a lot of my students have never had access to before now. The possibilities are truly endless!
