Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are currently continuing with the International Baccalaureate Program format, in that they are going in-depth through our units of study. Our district has worked closely with our families to provide the technology they need to get online. While this is not ideal, our students are resilient and doing their best.
We are getting a lot of engagement online!
Our students are so excited for our new hands-on unit of study. With the use of a variety of art mediums, we will be able to blend a typically unique classroom experience with distance learning.
My Project
We are preparing for our final Unit of Inquiry for the school year--Art History! Normally, we share a variety of special mediums in the classroom-oil and chalk pastels, watercolors, Sharpies, and more. Most of the supplies can be used for many years before they are depleted. However, due to Covid-19, we are unable to use these supplies in the classroom as usual.
The 4/5 team has taken all our classroom supplies and made Art Supply Kits for our students so they can complete this Unit of Inquiry at home.
This has depleted our classroom supplies that we would normally be using for years to come in the brick and mortar classroom environment. Most of the supplies we had were from recent DC projects and had yet to be used.
This project will replace the supplies we have already handed out so we are prepared to hit the ground running when we get back to our classrooms.
