Our school is located on Cleveland's West Side. My Pre-K is a Head Start site and all of the students must qualify to be in the program via the Head Start guidelines which means they are below the poverty level. I have students from many different ethnic backgrounds. The students of my class are four or turning 5 after October. They are happy, energetic and a ton of fun to be around! I get to see the world through their eyes and laugh each and everyday with them!
My students in cooperation with a Kindergarten class are involved in an inter generational program with the residents of a Healthcare Facility. Each month we make a door decoration and a placement for the residents. We use a lot of construction paper each month to make the door decorations & placements, which is why most of items I am requesting are different shades of construction paper & craft supplies. We even laminate the placements so they can be used for a few days. In addition we travel to the facility twice a year to sing to the residents and talk with them. A small group of residents visit us at school twice a year for a smaller singing performance and to make a craft with the children. This project has been wonderful! The children enjoy making the crafts and placements and the residents look forward to each months new surprises!
