Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
99% of our day is dedicated to getting ready for standardized tests, but I'm making it my mission this year to bring more art and creativity into the classroom!
My students are very sweet hard-working kids, but my school is located in a very low income area where supplies are scarce and all our emphasis is on test prep.
Getting kids to achieve grade level in reading is a great goal, but sometimes art needs to be a priority too!
My Project
Every week we'll carve out a special art period and use these paints and drawing papers to create artwork related to our science and social studies topics, and sometimes just for fun! The collage materials will be a fun reward for kids who are showing a great deal of improvement in any subject.
These paints, drawing papers and collage materials will inspire kids to new heights of creativity and enthusiasm for school!
