Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Every day, my students enter the room looking for hints of what the day may hold for them. I try to have something new and interesting to get their little brains turning. I love hearing the kids ask, "What are we going to do today?" Little minds are always so interested, and I love it.
My students consist of a great set of 3-, 4-, and 5-year-olds.
They live in a high poverty community, and all my students qualify for free lunch. Many parents rely on the classroom to provide their students with the experiences that they can't provide for their own child. In our community, it is very hard to find transportation unless you have a vehicle. It is very often that my families carpool to bring their children to and from school. My students enjoy coming to school every day. We are a pre-k classroom that is currently placed in a new building. Most students have the capability of walking to school from their home with their parents.
My Project
The materials, when purchased, will help to provide more materials for students to express their creativity. Materials provided for paint will allow the students to create new colors and create artwork that is more personal to themselves. 3D art materials will allow the students to create more life like art. The drying rack will provide an area for the students to place items that need to dry or even items they want to finish another day. This will allow for more process art. These materials will be highly beneficial.
Art materials added to the classroom will create a huge art explosion for students to be miniature artists!
In prek, part of are goal is to get students to be creative and think outside the box. We strive for students to start developing their own problem solving skills. When working with art materials, students have to think as they try to make creations, which adds to problem solving skills. The materials in our request would help make miniature artists!
