We are a Title I school with more than 3/4 of students qualifying to receive free or reduced-price meals. In this community, students come from all backgrounds and family types. Most students have multiple siblings as well. Each student brings a sense of creativity, enthusiasm, culture, and curiosity to the classroom environment. By providing students with multiple tools and materials for learning, students will be enriched and engaged in learning!
When students are in a comfortable setting with the appropriate tools, it allows them to collaborate, engage, and interact with peers and teachers on a deeper level.
This year in my classroom I have noticed an abundance of artists. Students love free drawing, sketching, cutting and pasting, as well as creating art pieces that stem from their imagination. Over the past couple years, I have collected colored pencils, crayons, and markers to add to my art collection for my classroom students.
Being able to provide watercolors and card stock paper to my students will benefit their exploration and imagination.
These specific art materials are things I do not have in my classroom collection for students to access. If students are able to access these materials, there is no telling how much more creative ideas they will be able to make a reality.
