Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Children love Art! It's also educational and fun!!
Our school is a public school in the inner city of Oakland.
Many of the students enjoy school as a means to get away from their day-to-day struggles. Art is a means by which to express oneself and is also important to the development of the whole child.
My Project
Art education is one of the first subjects to be cut during budget crises. Students greatly benefit and enjoy art and with a new art instructor available to our school, supplies are needed to make the class a reality. I am requesting various art supplies such as modeling clay, craft tissue, paint brushes, & pom pom balls. Students will benefit from art by being able to be creative, express their individuality, and make the memorable art that we all remember from childhood such as Mother's Day cards, snowmen from cotton balls, and express their creativity.
This project is important because there are some children who struggle daily with academics and art is an area where everyone can succeed and feel valuable.
Children are so proud when they are able to take home a project they created.
