My students need technology, I have an old clear transparency projector and we need an upgrade; we need a document camera.
My students need a lightbox for projects that require redrawing image.
My students come in ready and eager to make art projects and I do my best to come up with fun, new and interesting ways to teach them. I want my students to have a love and an understanding of art at their level and learning style. "Art is the only way to run away without leaving home." Twyla Tharp
My students attend a high poverty school in our community.
Many of my students come from impoverished homes. As a teacher, I feel it imperative that I give them whatever I can, because every child is special. I teach art to my students from Kindergarten all the way through 8th grade. My students are excited about learning, creative and eager to do the projects that we create. Our student body is small, so we get to know each one of our kids. This is a great school, with our close- knit community feel, our students are important and recognized. We have excellent employees and wonderful students. I am new to the school, but I can tell that we have something special here. I can't wait to bring new tools and ideas to the school, because our students are so deserving.
My Project
With a new document camera my students will be able to view my step-by-step instructions in real time manipulating the media that they will be using. They will see what they need to do on the actual materials, as opposed to teaching pencil drawing with markers on clear transparency sheets. My students will be able to use the lite box for higher level mixed media projects, making redrawing much more simple. Most importantly, with these tools, I will be able to better reach all of my learners using modern teaching tools. Allowing my students to remain seated during a demonstration and observing my tips and techniques first- hand is a very valuable tool. I have included some building blocks on my list as well. Students inevitably finish they projects at different times and I have several drawing sheets for them to use. However, some students need to manipulate something with their hands- maybe they don't think they are good at drawing. These blocks would give them an enjoyable activity.
My student would be benefited by gaining a better understanding of my teachings.
They would have new tools to use to better their art and they will have something fun to do while they wait for their classmates to finish their projects. I want to bring as much to my classroom as possible and with your help I can make that happen. Showing my students that the community supports them and their learning would be so encouraging.
