Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a kindergarten teacher in a Title I school. Most of my students do not even have crayons to color with at home, and this, being most of the students first year of school, is many of my students first experience using paint, chalk, crayons, and many other art instruments. During free choice, the coloring center is the most popular choice for my students; however I am unable to supply enough materials for all of my students to participate in art, and am limited to simply crayons and paper. I would love to set up a complete art center for my students to express their knowledge through other media as well as improve their fine motor skills. This will require an easel and general art supplies, such as paint brushes, markers, glitter, and colored pencils. I want to access all of the means of learning with my students, one of which has not been regularly used: art.
