Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach high school students in all four grade levels who love problem-solving! My hope is to let them find and express their true passions through Art!
My students are innate problem solvers!
They love to create and have a great drive.
The students have a growth mindset and love to help one another grow. As an art teacher at this STEM-based school, I am always surprised how personally aware these students are of not only their own needs but of those of others. I am also always impressed at how involved and in-depth these kids get into their projects!
My Project
These wonderful art materials and tools will help my class for the whole Spring Semester of 2020. Some of the projects we hope to achieve include a Personality Portrait with 50 drawn things, an observational Self Portrait, and (what I think the kids will be most excited for) Team Art Cars utilizing recycled materials.
These STEM students will be designing their own MINI Art Cars, using recycled materials, to commemorate Houston's Art Car Parade.
The paints, brushes, and other tools will help their recycled materials have another life, while also bringing their ideas into reality!
This mini Art Car parade will be a first for Energy Institute High School, and I am so excited to see what the kids come up with.
