Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am privileged to be teaching a wonderful group of PreK students. They have demonstrated an eagerness to learn, play and help others. For the majority of my students, PreK is their first experience with school. Some did not know any English, others had difficulty with speech, and a few had a combination of both. So, it is understandable why they came to school scared and crying.
Now, my students are excited and happy to come to school.
I am filled with joy when I see them communicating, playing, and learning together. They did not let language get in their way of becoming friends, and sharing the excitement in each other's accomplishments.

My Project
My students love to create art work. They enjoy coloring, painting, cutting, and gluing. Best of all they love to share their art work with their classmates. They congratulate and admire each other's work. This brings me great joy because it shows how much they have grown from the first days of school. They are no longer afraid to communicate in a different language, speak in a new language, or be afraid of being misunderstood. They help and support each other.
It would be a wonderful gift for my students to be able to explore different mediums and materials as they create new art work to share with classmates.
They have not experimented with gluing tissue or foam paper yet. My students were sad when their construction paper shape monsters lost their glued-on googly eyes. The peel and stick materials will help preserve their art work. The craft trays will be easy to keep clean and our supplies will be organized with the craft jars.
