Our school is a Title I school trying to provide the always changing resources needed to coordinate with the current educational standards which also change often.
With the upcoming school year, I am fortunate enough to be teaching a great group of sixth graders.
This group of students comes from a small, rural school that houses approximately three hundred kindergarten through sixth-grade students. Most of these students come from low-income and low socioeconomic status homes.
These particular students are high-energy and have the ability to design and create wonderful things with their academic successes. One obstacle they face is not having the resources needed to support their creativity. Teachers foster independence and to think "outside the box" to find ways to meet the students' needs the best we can, but the financial needs are greater than most teachers can provide.
My Project
Every nine weeks, my students participate in a mock, practice run of spring testing. Teachers are encouraged to try to find a variety of way to motivate students to do their very best! The goal is to show overall growth from test to to test, hopefully meeting benchmark by the real assessment each spring.
I have found art is a passion both boys and girls can enjoy!
The goal of this project is to reward my students who make growth with an awesome day of art! The art supplies I am requesting will be enjoyable by both girls and boys. Students will color, paint and design with a relaxing afternoon of art. The setup will be very laid back, almost cafe-style. Student dedication, determination, and motivation will be celebrated with the requested supplies, which will help restock our art bins we use for special occasions.
