My students need a comfortable and safe place to be illustrators and a place to collaborate with peers and create beautiful pieces of writing. We need journals, beanbags, writing pockets and a tabletop writing center.
Have you ever been lost in something that you are creating by being surrounded in art supplies and ideas? Imagine what it would be like to be an illustrator every single day!
I have a classroom full of energetic and passionate 2nd graders.
They are full of life and continuously want to show how they learned something! They attend a large K-12 school in Northern Colorado. They are eager to set and achieve goals - academic or personal. They are driven and want to improve to become the very best learners that they can be! My students come from a diverse set of backgrounds and of course they are a diverse set of unique learners who have so much to give to our world.
These 2nd graders inspire and motivate me everyday through their curiosity, inquiry and questioning. They are always wanting to learn more. They are constant participants in their own learning.
Donations to our classroom prove to them that others want to see them succeed just as much as I do!
My Project
My students are diving into the writing process each day during writer's workshop. However, they are losing motivation when it comes to the writing center during our Daily 5 time. Having these supplies in our classroom would help so much with this obstacle. My students are amazing artists and they want spend so much time on their writing projects and illustrations. During their free writing time, they do not have a place to create on their own or a place to collaborate with peers. My group of learners need a comfortable, hands-on place to be authors and illustrators. The bean-bag chairs would help my learners who need something other than their plastic chair to sit in. The writing center organizer would help us organize and keep track of all of the art supplies that we have in our room. Right now, there is not an accessible place to store these items where all students have can use them. These supplies would also give each child their own creative journal to illustrate and draw in!
If my students have a special place to create amazing works of art and pieces of writing, their connections to genres of writing and the world around them will continue to grow and grow.
These supplies will make sure that all my students have access to art supplies every single day they walk through our classroom door while becoming better writers.
