Our students are incredibly creative and innovative. They continually raise the bar with their ownership of learning and and bravery to try new things. Our elementary school is a special place; as the only district in the state without a racial majority, we celebrate the diversity of our classrooms by affirming our variety of cultures, languages, and learning styles. Though many of our students live in poverty, their resiliency speaks volumes about their capability and agency to change their community!
My students deserve to experience all the world has to offer; they deserve to be heard.
They benefit from being able to create, explore, and collaborate with others. We build community and character through rich experiences and support all learners, even when faced with low funding.
My Project
My students love art and I love watching them create and discuss their amazing works. We have been working on producing videos and enhancing our love of literature through film and art.
Students will use items in the makerspace to illustrate scenes, create clay animations and even storytell.
While participating in literature circles, each student has a certain role. Some create book snaps, some illustrate figurative language, and others may be in charge of holding the discussion among members. Some groups produce plays that need backdrops. Others create symbolic figures that represent themes, characters or important events. The materials in this project ensure that my students will not only have the resources needed to be creative, produce art, illustrate images to teach others, create claymation, and produce readers theatre within their classroom, but they will have a neat and safe place to store the items and clean up after, as well. Your donation ensures that all students will have a creative way to learn!
