My students love a challenge. A typical day in the classroom is very busy with many students coming in and out of my art classroom. The students are always engaged through using critical thinking skills to solve problems that come up when creating something new.
We are also a GREEN Step school curriculum.
The school is focused on learning and using renewable energy. Our students are very diverse in culture but are united for one common goal. That goal includes being involved with our GREEN efforts and our high standards in academics. The students are encouraged in my art class to use their critical thinking skills, learn that a problem can have more then one answer, and learn by making something out of nothing.
My Project
My middle school students love creating art using all kinds of mediums classroom. The students will be using the scholastic art magazines to learn about art-making techniques, art history and contemporary artists. The scholastic magazine subscription includes 6 issues for each student. I have asked for 24 subscriptions so each student will be able to look at their own copy. I will also keep the issues and use them for for the next year students.
This also includes access to the ipad app where students can explore different content through the scholastic website. This will also the students to use the class set of ipads at our school to learn about art. Scholastic Art brings art history to life to middle school. On the app scholastic has dynamic digital learning features like art history videos, museum tours and artist interviews, Scholastic Art is a complete print & online nonfiction art program.
My students need this art magazine subscription to enhance their learning in both art and reading comprehension.
This resource will also help students use technology in the classroom.
