Kindergarten is my favorite grade! My students are bright, energetic and very curious. My students learn more information and are better engaged when they are using hands-on materials. In our class we work hard, but as a teacher I want their hard work to be engaging. This year I want to have a better supply of materials at my Art Center
“Art is not a thing, it is a way” ~Elbert Hubbard.
I have the privilege of providing 24 students some of their very earliest school experiences. Our school is a Title 1 school. I teach two sessions of kindergarten. My morning class is a traditional 1/2 day session of kindergarten. My afternoon class consists of students who attended morning kindergarten but have qualified for an additional intervention class.
My Project
In the last several years school curriculum in the United States has shifted heavily toward common core subjects of reading and math, but what about the arts? Some may think of art education as a luxury. I believe art is a fundamental part of a child's education.
I believe in the arts!
In our class we have Center Time. I need your help to stock my art center with materials my students can use to create masterpieces! Stickers, Magic Craft Noodles, paper, Stick Foam Cubes, Wikki Stix, Art Dotters, craft sticks and more will benefit my students for years to come!
Skills my students will develop from the Art Center will be: language development, decision making, motor skills, visual learning, inventiveness, cultural awareness, and improved academic performance. Let's get my students creating. Thank you!
