This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
This is my school’s first year as an elementary school. Prior to the 2019-2020 school year my school was a middle school. This year almost everyone is new! Only two teachers, the media specialist (me) and the principal were here last year. The entire student body is new! Making new friends and building a school family is challenging however, we are instituting a PBIS ( Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) program to help grow a positive and supportive school culture for students and teachers.
As student display positive behaviors, they will be rewarded with incentives ranging from Popsicle's to game room time.
Providing incentives for students can get a little pricey so we are asking you to help us build our “Bulldog Family” by providing us with incentives. It’s a great day to be a bulldog!
My Project
These items will help my students to be Arrington HERO's. Arrington HERO's are: Helpful, Strive for Educational Excellence are Respectful and take ownership of their own actions. Students are taught to be HERO's in 4 main areas: Gym, Cafeteria, Restroom, and the Classroom.
When students show these characteristics the have the opportunity to purchase items from the HERO cart.
Opportunities to purchase from the HERO cart rewards students for doing the right thing! Students begin to realize that there are positive rewards for doing the right thing...all the time!
