Help me give my students a chance to see the world with the Continents of the World Activity Chest.
This project expired on April 25, 2019.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
My students come from low economic backgrounds. They often do not have the supplies they need to complete assignments. Many of them come from single parent homes or travel between relatives or friends. They are very needy and very loving! They hunger for attention and approval. They will often bring me pictures they have drawn so they can see them hanging in the classroom.
My school is a second home for many of our students.
The teachers and staff work well together to try and meet the needs of our students.
One of the skills our first graders need to know is identifying the seven continents and five oceans. This activity will help familiarize them with the world and the seven continents. Rather than just memorize where each continent is located, I would like for my students to become familiar with the world around them. We study cultures around the world, and having this kit will give me more resources to use and hands on materials for them to manipulate.
I would love for my students to see the world outside of their own town.
Many of them will never be able to travel the world, but there are so many opportunities for them to explore. I would like for them to see more and understand that they can do anything and someday go anywhere.
