I have a wonderful and diverse group of students. I have over six different languages spoken in my classroom. Many of my students speak very little English and have just recently come to the United States as refugees from other countries. The diversity in the classroom can cause challenges for teaching, but it also makes my room unique and special! I wouldn't have it any other way!
My students love to learn, laugh and play!
They are curious, self-motivated learners who always want to know more!
We are requesting dolls from around the world. These dolls represent six different cultures from different counties. I have a high ENL population and many of my students are from Burma and Somalia. I want them to have dolls to play with that look like themselves and people from their culture.
I want my students to be able to see themselves in the toys they play with, and I also want them to learn about people and cultures that are different from their own.
I am hoping that if we teach children at a young age that people are different but we are all human they will grow up to love and accept one another. I am hoping to use these dolls in lessons and to put them in areas for students to play and work.
