I work with a bright, high-energy group of students. These kids are from the North Woods and love the outdoors, especially the lakes, rivers, and forests that surround us.
Our district motto is to ACHIEVE, and my class does that daily through academics, character, and behavior.
My classroom is approximately 30% Native American. I am continually impressed at how motivated my students are when it comes to their learning. They are always up for a good challenge and exceed expectations!
I want my students to experience other cultures and communities from around the world. These books and picture cards will allow students to do research on these countries. In third grade, students are still sorting out cultural differences and trying to understand how people live differently than they do.
Traveling to countries in a book is second best to visiting there personally!
I plan to have my students use these books to read and research a country that they can eventually put in a written and oral report to share with their classmates. In general, students are going to improve on reading, researching, writing, and understanding of others.
