I have a group of book-loving learners who are eager to work hard and succeed. These students come from a wide variety of backgrounds--families from all socio-economic backgrounds, different cultures, different levels of education.
This year, many of my students have discovered their love for reading and can't seem to get their hands on enough books...especially books from other cultures.
All these kids share the common goal of wanting to do the best they can and to read really great books!
My Project
Students in my room tend to be from a homogeneous background...they have similar experiences growing up in the same place, with the same people, in the same culture.
With the books in this project, we plan to travel the world through traditional folktales and through characters from a variety of countries both in and outside the United States.
Books are an easy way of sparking an interest in seeing or experiencing something new and unfamiliar and finding the value and the adventure to be had!
Giving children the opportunity to see the world and inspire them to explore new and unfamiliar things can unlock lots of opportunities in the coming years to travel abroad and embark on new and exciting opportunities!
