Help me give my students a chance to explore the world by going on virtual fieldtrips using an iPad and reading our way around the world with wonderful books.
My students are full of energy, excitement, and a natural curiosity about the world around them. My students love to make connections between the things we are reading and learning to their own lives. "I have a connection!" is something I hear multiple times a day. These connections are as diverse as the learners in our classroom and happen during reading, math, art, and independent work. Because many of my students live in poverty, they don't have all the necessary tools to be considered successful in school. I hope to give them the tools to make even more connections to the world around them.
My Project
The items I am requesting will be used to help my students build their background knowledge by the exploring the world. Research shows that the more a student already knows, the easier it is to gain new knowledge.
Donations to this project will help my students build their background knowledge by exploring the world without leaving our classroom.
Using the iPad, students will be able to visit our National Parks, museums, and other world sights. Books have been chosen to represent some of the cultures in our classroom and teach about others. Many of the students in my class will not otherwise have these experiences. Our journals will help us document our learning and improve our writing skills in the process.
Pencils, markers, and hand sanitizer will just help us make it through the year a little easier.
