I teach the greatest kids in the world! They work hard to understand topics like population, culture, food, economic development, and urban development. It is a rigorous class and these kids work extremely hard. We have hardcore review sessions to prepare and these books will help each student.
My students are amazing hard-working freshman who are taking their first AP class.
This experience is giving them the academic rigor of a college class as a 1st year high school student. Our school is one of the finest in the state and as our motto goes, "sharks only move in one direction, forward".
My Project
The students will use the review guides as we work on our crash course review before the AP Exam. My students take the AP Exam in May and the two weeks up to the exam are dedicated to reviewing material. We review in class, but I also hold review sessions after-school from 3:30 until 5:30 each day. The attendance at these sessions has been remarkable. We were filled to capacity each time and usually had to borrow chairs from neighboring classrooms. These review books will be a valuable resource during these review sessions to help summarize material that was read from their college level textbook previously.
This project will allow students to get a summary of material that they may not have understood previously and see examples that I may not have given in class.
These review books can help improve scores and if students make at least a score of a 3 they will receive college credit. Our overall scores have improved each year and with this resource I don't see why it wouldn't continue to improve. If these study guides help at least 1 student then it is worth the project.
