Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Everyday my students walk into the classroom full of energy and ready to face the challenges of the day. For the students in my classroom learning comes with and abundance of challenges. The classroom that we are in is a Specialized Academic Instruction classroom. The students in my room all struggle with different aspects of learning from reading, writing, and math to being able to focus in order to learn what they need to to succeed. These students have a love for life and a thirst for learning.
The students in my room come to school everyday and face the challenges of learning head on and with a positive attitude.
Everyday brings a new set of challenges for my students and as a class we work through those challenges. We find strategies and use what we have to try and make sure that our classroom is an environment in which my students can learn and grow as scholars and as members of the school community.
My Project
The furniture I am requesting will help to create areas for learning and growth within my classroom. One of the biggest challenges for my students is reading. Many of my students dislike to read or struggle with reading. Using the carpet and rocking chair set I am hoping to create a space in the classroom that encourages kids to read. This space will be set up with books ranging in levels to meet all the needs of my students. With this area in place, I am hoping it will encourage and inspire students to read. This area will also be a place that students can go if the need to have a minuet to cool down or take a break. The rocking chairs will also give sensory input for those students with sensory needs. The kidney table will allow students to collaborate with each other as well as facilitate small group instruction. Allowing for collaboration will encourage my students to use their social skills and help other students grow their social skills. These new areas in the classroom will help students to learn and grow.
