I teach students in a low-income school. We have a high-mobility rate and students often come and go. Our school is 100% Title I and we serve all of our students free breakfast and lunch daily. My students come from a diverse population with many different cultures and backgrounds. Our classroom community is a welcoming environment where all students can be comfortable being themselves and learning about each other. They are eager learners and love to share with adults that show a genuine interest.
I would like to provide my students with a Children's Educational Alphabet Area Rug for the calendar and whole group area in my kindergarten classroom. This rug will be used as the designated area for students to sit during calendar math and whole group activities. Having a specific area rug will give my students a concrete visual that is needed to quickly find their individual spaces.
Students in kindergarten are learning what personal space and boundaries are.
The rug in this project will allow my students to know exactly where they need to go and where they need to stay.
