Are You Wearing My Glasses? (Differentiation in Math)

Help me give my students tools for differentiation tools for their specific and individual goals in math. I now teach students from 1st grade through 5th!!

My Students

My students are amazing young people. I have met half of them in person and look forward to meeting the rest in the (hopefully) near future. I am a Resource teacher which means that I work with Special Education students. I have the privilege of teaching in inclusion and pull-out settings.

Being with these students and watching them have the tools and opportunity to learn and grow makes my heart so happy.

They are "my" children and that means we are a family. As the "mother" to these students with various challenges and abilities I want to see them have as equal and level of a playing field as possible.

To have the "I get it!" light go on, to see self confidence build and have an "I CAN!" attitude, all the while knowing they are loved and cared for just because they are themselves are some of the goals in our "family" classroom. We are family and family takes care of each other.

My Project

Will your eye glasses make me see the same way you do?

I didn't think so! This is the same concept as saying "one size fits all" when it comes to teaching math to my students. They each have different areas of glows and grows. They have different neural pathways that will help them or hinder them in understanding and absorption to application of each mathematical concept and sequence.

By providing these materials to my students, I can foresee more success especially as the materials I currently have are geared to 3rd through 5th graders. The materials I'm hoping to receive are differentiated to include 1st through 6th. I ADORE my new younger babies (1st graders) and they will do well with these fun interactive and independence building materials.

They need to "see" with their very own correct individualized "prescription lenses". Thank you for helping them!
