"No one is born a great cook. One learns by doing." -Julia Child
I am a Family and Consumer Sciences teacher and teach every student at my middle school.
My classroom is an enjoyable place for the students to be. They love coming to class because they have an opportunity to have hands-on experiences. They enjoy participating in life skills lessons that are instilled in their young minds.
The students' favorite activity is cooking! When cooking, they work very hard to make enjoyable food that they share with their classmates. They take great pride in their work! The biggest joy is to see their smiling faces and hear their conversations about the foods that they make. My classroom is a great place to learn about the real world! I hope I can give my students a fun kitchen experience they will look back on and remember forever.
My Project
Learning to cook provides some of the most important skills a person can have. When you cook for yourself, you learn to enjoy healthy foods and you won't go hungry. Think back to the time when you were first on your own. Without cooking skills, you were forced to eat prepackaged foods that were unhealthy and didn't contain any nutrients. In today's fast-paced world, we tend to eat fast food very often, and, unfortunately, it is due to lack of time and skills in the kitchen. Learning to cook is going to be so beneficial for our minds and bodies!
The main reason people don't cook is their lack of kitchen skills.
We don't know how to make meals for ourselves. We lack the skills to take a few raw ingredients and turn them into a delicious meal. With your generous donation, you will be providing us with the opportunity to purchase equipment to teach middle school kids how to cook. We need spatula sets, graters, ladles and other basic kitchen utensils. Some skills that the students will be focusing on are chopping, grating, mixing, stirring, sauteing, slicing, dicing, baking, and many more things that will help them in their lives ahead. Please donate to help my students learn these important skills.
