Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Working as a third grade transition teacher (Spanish to English) at Taft School is wonderful. The kids are awesome! They are always eager to learn and love having books in their hands. My job is to provide them with a strong Spanish language foundation so they may more easily acquire the English language. Unfortunately, Taft has a very limited supply of Spanish Guided Reading Books leveled above an M. This makes it extremely difficult to teach Spanish guided reading in third grade. How can kids improve their primary language skills if they don't have adequate resources? It's very difficult. I need Spanish Guided Reading Books. Your contribution for the purchase of Spanish Guided Reading Books between the levels of M and T would be housed in a Taft School's resource room. This means that not only will my students benefit from their use, but any other teacher who may need them for his/her students. Students will improve their reading comprehension skills in their primary language and consequently improve their English skills.
