Help me give my students the most amazing Letters Alive rug to engage them and increase learning in the classroom. This tool even made this 49 year old scream with excitement when I saw it. Engagement=Deeper Understanding/mastery.
My students come from many diverse backgrounds. Our school contains 720 students with many different economic backgrounds-with my class having more than 50% on free or reduced cost lunch. Kindergarten is the most important grade level because it forms the foundation of all learning. VPK (voluntary pre-kindergarten) is offered free in my area, however, many students don't attend.
When they enter kindergarten with very little to no skills it is very hard to help them reach the learning goals for promotion.
Staying focused is something that we have to learn to do in Kindergarten. Having flexible seating in the classroom helps the kinders learn how to sit and build their stamina and listen to me-their teacher.
In my classroom, whole brain teaching is used. However, I still need resources to help my Kinders succeed and having this interactive rug is it. It brings animals to life to teach the required Science standards, will allow me to review the alphabet in the most engaging way, and will require them to use technology. This resource is a 3 for 1 (AMAZING) tool-teaching independence and helping me make them more responsible for their learning, which helps me mold the whole child.
The Letters Alive rug embraces the element of surprise to motivate early learners towards proficiency. The students will be sitting on the carpet and be amazed.
Each letter of the alphabet is coupled with an animal that springs into life in 3d and interacts with the students.
It is the coolest thing I have ever experienced. It is what is needed to keep students engaged in a world that relies so much on technology. Even though I'm old school and like pencil and paper activities I know it is wise to compromise and meet students'needs with technology seeing that they enter Kindergarten knowing how to use tablets and cell phones.
