Ms. Gresham from Columbus OH is requesting art supplies through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need supplies to complete their 3D area and perimeter construction project.

Making learning more meaningful and exciting requires educators to bring learning to real life. Students who practice applying their knowledge of content to real life or hands-on activities perform higher on state assessments.
The students in my classroom lack opportunities to apply their academic content skills in real-life application projects and activities.
Having tactile materials to enhance not only instruction in those areas but reinforce the integration of science, social studies, and emotional skills with reading and writing; set my students up for more success. Implementing real life activities, inquiry-based learning, projects, and labs requires a lot of time and dedication from the teacher! My students need more experience taking their hands-on learning to another level. Having resources to make this happen is appreciated.
There is nothing like bringing the joy of learning to real life. This year I have been working on getting my students to understand that what we learn in third grade can be applied and used when they get older. We are learning about area and perimeter, while still focusing on increasing our multiplication and repeated addition skills. To help my students understand area and perimeter, they are starting to create their own blue prints of either houses, game entertainment places, or playgrounds to demonstrate their understanding of how adults apply area and perimeter.
My students need grid paper, card stock, and other materials to create a 3D Model of their architectural blue print building to demonstrate their knowledge of area and perimeter.
So far they are working individually or with a partner to finalize the blue print for the area and will then use their rulers and mathematical skills to figure out the perimeter of the spaces. After our math state test, the students will start to create their 3D models, but we need your help to make this learning based real life application project a success before the school year ends.
